When you look at some of your fabric stash, you have to wonder where did it all come from? Once upon a time much of my stash came from living abroad. I think I have turned the corner now and most of what I have has been brought in Houston. Now that I have travelled around, I have some favorite quilt shops because many have unique collections and specialities which draw you in on a regular basis. Here is a list of the shops in the general Houston area.
Have a try at long arming when you can with some of the simple designs that working well for Beginners.

There is nothing that warms your heart like having your hard work recognized by those who truly understand that effort you put into your quilt. I am enjoying my first every quilt ribbon. This quilt called Limelight is for my own home so I will be able to cherish the feeling often as I snuggle under it.
Just the right quilt for my BFF. Seeing Stacey wrapped up in a quilt as unique has her personality is perfect. I am sure that she will wrap up in it on many days and Kibah will fight for a room under it too.
This quilt top was made in a mystery workshop at my HMQG guild meeting. It is lovely by itself but I wanted a wide border to pull it together. The shimmery Christmas red fabric was perfect. Betty Hankinson did a fantastic job quilting it. When I saw how beautiful the quilting looked in the border I knew I had to leave it nice and wide. When I got it home, I did the binding by machine because time was not on my side.
Baby's 1st Christmas blank made of lux on the cuddly side and 100% cotton on the back. I used a self binding method to make the sewing easing. The label is made in my inkjet printer.
As you develop you will have a list of helpful techniques to help sew the best that you can. For me having a quarter inch presser foot gives me a consists seam allowance. Most quilt tops I make have beautiful dimensions thus I have use for quick techniques that make some of the most used quilt blocks like the HST, QST, hourglass, and flying geese.
